Rachel’s was an American chamber music collective of long-time friends that released six albums on Chicago’s Quarterstick/Touch & Go Records between 1995 and 2003. In 1997, they recorded a BBC Peel Session, and later released two tour EPs. The group was known for it’s genre-defying blend of rock and classical instruments and it’s hands-on design aesthetic with custom artwork and hand-printed packaging. Numerous attempts to describe the band and its style resulted in bewildering phrases like ”subversives with a cello,” “classical post-rock,” “post-classical,” and “lo-fi Louisville loafers.”
